Comparison of medieval European and Japanese society:
Medieval Japan and Europe are different in many
ways.Here is an example of the feudal systems
differences:
Europe: Japan:
King --> Emperor
None --> Shogun
Lords --> Daimyo
knights --> Samurai
Peasants --> Eta
Similarities:
They both have a feudal system as shown above and have very similar ranks. They both have a person in the highest rank who leads the country, they also have a poor lowest ranking eg: eta and peasants, they just have other names.
Differences:
In japan it was possible to move up in the ranks but in Europe it was almost impossible and was decided by how lucky you were if you were born into a wealthy family.Japanese architecture was very stylized compared to Europe, Japanese castles often had curved walls to prevent being climbed from invaders.Europeans did not have this advantage.Armour was also much lighter and decorated while Europe’s much
heavier and simpler.
